Records are uncertain about the actual construction date of 622 Yates Street but we believe to have been built in the 1890’s or circa 1900, making it a surviving example of a smaller, single storey commercial building commonly built in downtown Victoria during the late 19th or very early 20th century.

It has always been a commercial building and has been occupied by a variety of retail stores and restaurants over its lifetime.
