1007-1011 Langley Street – the Promis Block
The Promis Block at 1007-1011 Langley Street / 1006-1010 Government Street was built in 1905 by architects Thomas Hooper and C. Elwood Watkins for Oscar Promis of the Promis Estate Company of San Jose, California.
It is currently occupied by Kilshaw’s Auctioneers.
The Promis Block extends the width of the block between Langley Street and Government Street and also has street frontage at 1006-1010 Government Street. It is listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places as the Promise Block [note: this is a mistake. It should be Promis Block].
