A Brief History of 1720 Store Street
1720 Store Street was built in 1908 as a warehouse for R.J. Nott. The original building permit, issued to R.J. Nott by the City of Victoria in June 1908, describes a “new brick building, 1 storey, 1 room, purpose: warehouse” with an estimated construction cost of $3,000.00.
For much of its early history it was used for light industrial purposes, including welding shops and machine shops. Since the 1980’s it has been used for retail stores. It is currently occupied by Chintz & Company.
