731 Vancouver Street
731 Vancouver Street is one of eight houses designed and built in 1892 by architect John Teague for British investor Hedley Chapman. Six of these houses are still extant at: 725 Vancouver Street; 737 Vancouver Street; 743 Vancouver Street; 1012 Richardson; and 1011 Maclure Street.
The first owners of the house were Rev. Stuart Clement Scholefield (1842-1894) and his wife Helen Ann Coleman Scholefield (nee Gilbert). Rev. Scholefield was the Rector of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Esquimalt between 1888 until his death in 1894.
731 Vancouver Street is listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places. It is currently being operated as the Scholefield House B&B, named for the original owners of the house.

A Brief History of 731 Vancouver Street
731 Vancouver Street is one of eight houses designed and built in 1892 by architect John Teague for British investor Hedley Chapman. Six of these houses are still extant at: 725 Vancouver Street; 737 Vancouver Street; 743 Vancouver Street; 1012 Richardson; and 1011 Maclure Street.
The B.C. Land & Investment Agency acted as agent for Hedley Chapman in the construction of these houses.
