William Jacobus Semeyn was the professional name adopted by Baron von Einkhausen when he emigrated to Canada from Germany. In Victoria, he married Yvette Germaine Cross, a daughter of William Cross, a member of the syndicate that developed the Uplands.
Apart from his own architectural practice, he was also a partner with Karl Branwhite Spurgin, in Spurgin and Semeyn, between 1928 and 1931.
William Jacobus Semeyn is best known for his Art Deco designs, including 900 Park Boulevard, built in 1936.
