A Brief History of 762-764 Fort Street
762-764 Fort Street was built in 1910-1911 as an investment property by John Hart. The original building permit, issued to John Hart by the City of Victoria in November 1910, describes a “new brick building, 1 storey, 3 room. Purpose: stores” with an estimated construction cost of $10,000.
The original design of the building was two separate storefronts and the building still retains that configuration.
