1462 Rockland Avenue
1462 Rockland Avenue, also known as Duvals or Duvals Cottage, was built in 1862, making it the oldest house in the Rockland neighbourhood. In 1870 it became the home of Francis Jones Barnard (1839-1889) and, later, of his son George Henry Barnard, who served Victoria as Mayor of Victoria, Member of Parliament and Senator.
It is currently divided into rental apartments.

A Brief History Of Duvals, 1462 Rockland Avenue:
1462 Rockland Avenue, also known as Duvals or Duvals Cottage, was built in 1862, making it the oldest house in the Rockland neighbourhood. In 1870 it became the home of Francis Jones Barnard (1839-1889) and, later, of his son George Henry Barnard, who served Victoria as Mayor of Victoria, Member of Parliament and Senator.
It was a Barnard family residence until the 1960’s. It is currently divided into rental apartments.
